Kelli Hughes, no stranger to royalty duties, was crowned the 60th Miss Deer Park in ceremonies in Deer Park High School’s Ken Fisher Performing Arts Center on Saturday evening.
In addition to her latest honor, Hughes, daughter of Josh Hughes and Teresa and Ryan Polensky, was the 2011 Clayton Fair Queen.
Joanna Goodner, daughter of Tony and Dawn Goodner, and Kelcie Lenz, daughter of Jeff and Cindy Lenz, were chosen this year’s princesses. The princess title carries a $675 scholarship.
In winning the Miss Deer Park title, Hughes received a $1,350 scholarship. She also received $150 scholarships for winning the presence and composure and fitness portions of the program. She also won the Spirit of Deer Park award in voting by the eight contestants and the creative and performing arts portion of the program with her vocal rendition of “Castle on a Cloud” from “Les Miserables.”
Lenz earned $150 scholarships for winning the judges’ interview portion of the program and the Bill and Bette Cox Community Service Award.
The other $150 scholarship was won by Ashtin Martinson in the program’s scholastic competition.
