Both Deer Park and Riverside Reveal Top Athletes at Invitational

The Deer Park and Riverside track and field squads both opened their 2026 season at the Fischer Jamboree hosted by Colville High School on March 20.

The former Northeast "A" League rivals placed first and second in the girls competition, with Deer Park taking the team title 82.33 to 73. In the boys meet, Deer Park was fourth and Riverside seventh in the 15-school field.

Deer Park senior Jacey Boesel, the defending 2A district champion in the long jump, was the top performer in the event and part of the first-place distance medley relay team with Brooklyn Cooper, Kaelin Newsom, and Isabel Sater. Myah DeSalles, defending district triple jump champion, won the event and was second in the long jump. Mattison Wainwright, last spring’s 2A district high jump champion, placed second to go with an eighth-place finish in the javelin. Newsom was also an individual event placer, taking eighth in the 1600-meter run.  Sienna Breneman had a pair of top 10 marks, 10th in the 400 meters and fifth at 1600 meters. Younger sister Amaia Breneman also booked top 10 performances in the shot put (10th) and javelin (third). Paityn Cooley placed eighth in the shot put and second in discus.  Also scoring top 10 finishes were: Riley Blades (400 meters, ninth), Ellie Callaham (100 meter hurdles, fourth), Brooklyn Jacobs (100 meter hurdles, fifth), and Chloe Pollock (100 meter hurdles, ninth).

The Riverside girls contingent was highlighted by six athletes with a pair of top 10 marks each. Athena Jones won the shot put and placed second at 100 meters, while Ava Montgomery won the 100 and placed third at 400 meters. Delilah Ceparano captured the 400-meter title and was fifth at 100 meters. Alyssa Riek won the high jump and placed sixth in the 100 meters. A pair of Ram throwers booked two top 10 marks as Reagan Gwiazda (shot put, sixth, and discus, fifth), along with Gracie Roddick (shot put, ninth, and javelin, 10th), were top 10 finishers. Also in the top 10 for the Rams was Phia Wenzl, placing seventh at 400 meters.

Two Deer Park boys throwers were top 10 finishers in two events. Rob McNabb placed fourth in the discus and eighth in the shot put, while William Lang-Senseney was fifth in the discus and seventh in the shot put. Chase Bates and Chance Taylor placed second and fourth in the 400-meter dash, and were joined by Keith Schick and Kyle Naccarato to place second in the 4x200 relay. Also with top 10 marks were: Kason Dean (1600 meters, eighth), Caleb Diaz (javelin, seventh). and Logan Moore (long jump, eighth).

Riverside boys got a ninth place in the shot put and 10th in the 100 meters from Mikah Coleman, their only athlete with two top 10 finishes. Also with top 10 finishes were:  Landon Edwards (100 meters, third), Taegen Hart (1600 meters, third), Tristan Lebsack (discus, sixth), David Parker (javelin, third), and Michael Turner (javelin, ninth).

Both squads return to Colville for the Ezra Gordon Invitational on Saturday, March 28.
