The Deer Park Float Committee officially revealed its 2026 parade entry, a "standout tribute" inspired by the nation's 250th anniversary. Vice President Linda Schoening noted that construction began in January, with local royalty families helping to finalize the symbolic design that will debut on the regional parade circuit this summer.

Many months and hours of preparation came to fruition on April 19 as the Deer Park baseball team hosted their third annual Marathon For Mental Health at Dave Franklin Field at Deer Park High School.

According to the Valley Historical Society, the schoolhouse, originally built in 1916, was relocated to the Valley Fairgrounds in 2020 after being listed as an endangered historic site. Since then, the Valley Historical Society, along with community volunteers and donors, has worked steadily to restore the building with the goal of transforming it into a museum and community gathering space.

Deer Park-area gardening businesses are gearing up for the growing season as plants sprout, shipments arrive, and shop signs switch to “open.”

After months of preparation, practice, and hard work, the Miss Deer Park Scholarship Program event culminated in the announcement of the winners to a packed Deer Park High School auditorium on March 14.

District leaders said they are aiming to open the new building for the start of the upcoming school year.

“We started it last year and did one big event,” said organizing committee member Michaela Teeselink. “It was such a success. It was super fun.”
