There is a phrase in sports that records are meant to be broken, but some take a long time for that to happen. In the case of the Riverside girls 4x100 meter and 4x200 relays, a long time is 41 years. The quartet of Ruby Schneider, Ava Montgomery, Delilah Ceperano, and Athena Jones eclipsed both 1985 marks at the Lakeside Last Chance meet in Nine Mile Falls on May 7 with a pair of second-place finishes. Jones added a title in the shot put and placed second in the 100 meter dash. Ceparano (400 meters) and Montgomery (100 meters) added individual event titles. Schneider placed third at 100 meters. Alyssa Riek won the high jump and added three more top 10 finishes (second place, 300 meter hurdles; fifth place, 100 meter dash; and sixth place, 100 meter hurdles). Also claiming a title was Emma Hare in the 800 meter run. Brynlee McNamee placed sixth in the 200 meter dash and eighth at 400 meters. Miaha Lang placed eighth at both 400 and 800 meter distances. Three top 10 performances by Riverside thrower Gracie Roddick (third place, javelin; sixth place, shot put; and eighth place, discus) paced girls field event placers. Reagan Gwiazda was fourth in the discus and eighth in the shot put. Jordyn Heinecke placed fourth in the javelin and seventh in the pole vault. Ajah Helm was second in the pole vault. Javontae Chambers led the Riverside boys running event performers with a seventh-place 200 meter dash finish, and 10th-place finish at 100 meters. He teamed with Mikah Coleman, Landon Edwards, and Marcus Oergel to place second in the 4x100 meter relay. Coleman would add a fourth-place finish in the shot put and seventh in the pole vault and Oregel won the high jump. Also posting running event top 10 marks were: Liam Hart (fourth place, 800 meters), Taegen Hart (sixth place, 800 meters), and Caysen Taylor (10th place, 200 meters).
