The local high school track and field squads continued to compete on the invitational circuit as league competition still lies ahead.

Riverside traveled to Yakima on April 4 for the Don Holder Relays held at Zaepfel Stadium, hosted by Eisenhower High School.

The Riverside girls quartet of Ruby Schneider, Ava Montgomery, Delilah Ceparano, and Alyssa Riek placed third in the 4x400 meter relay and fourth in the 4x100 meter event. Schneider added a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash while Riek added a third-place finish in the high jump.

The Rams boys contingent was topped by Mikah Coleman, who placed second in the freshman/sophomore division shot put and eighth in the same division in the 100-meter dash.  Taegen Hart placed fifth in the freshman/sophomore 800-meter run. In the open division, David Parker placed second in the javelin, and Tristan Lebsack was 10th in the discus.

While most of their team helped run the meet, a small contingent of Deer Park High School athletes competed in the Glenn Wolf Invitational on April 3.

The top finish of the day was the unified 4x100-meter relay team of Sophia Phillips, Amaia Breneman, Darrin McCanna, and Keith Schick, placing second. Breneman would add a fourth-place mark in the shot put. Her sister, Sienna Breneman, would place fourth at 100 meters and seventh in the triple jump. A 10th-place finish in the 400-meter dash was earned by Chance Taylor.

Riverside is off until their Northeast "A" League opener hosting Medical Lake. Both squads will compete at the Van Kuren Invitational in Cheney on April 18.
