Deer Park Softball Continues Hot Streak

There were runs aplenty for the Deer Park Lady Stags softball team as they improved their Greater Spokane League 2A record to 14-0.

Sisters Leah and Mady Ellingson had back-to-back home runs in the first inning against North Central as Deer Park went on to a 29-1 victory on April 21. Leah Ellingson had a stat line of five runs scored, four hits and five RBIs, and a double in addition to the homer. Mady Ellingson had five hits and drove in five. Lucy Lathrop scored three runs and drove in two, with a pair of hits to go with three RBIs. Kenlee Kinder, in a reserve role, scored twice with two hits while driving in three. Madeline Lebsack had two hits and drove in a pair. Kapri Bailey had two hits including a double. Jillian Marshall scored twice and had a double. Makenzie Reynolds had two runs scored and two hits. Ally Ellingson scored three times while Cheyenne Thomas and Hailee Orgill each scored twice.

East Valley visited on April 24 for a doubleheader where pitcher Hailey Thompson struck out eight without a walk. Lathrop scored three runs with three hits. Marshall had a team best three RBIs on two hits, including a homer. Ally Ellingson had two hits, one of them a double. Leah Ellingson added two hits while Orgill scored twice and Katelyn Reiter drove in two.

In game two, the tone was established early by the Lady Stags, with 20 runs in the first two innings. Lathrop had five hits, two of them homers, and a double driving in six. She became the single season home run record holder with her 13^th and 14^th long balls of the season. Bailey had three hits and three RBIs, including a double and home run. Marshall tallied three runs scored, two hits, and four runs driven in including a double. Thompson had a home run to go with four runs driven in, three runs scored and two hits. Makenzie Reynolds joined the home run parade with three hits total, two runs scored and five driven in. Mady Ellingson homered and scored twice. Leah Ellingson scored two runs and had two hits. Ally Ellingson scored twice and Katelyn Reiter had two hits.

Deer Park hosted West Valley on Tuesday, April 28; results were not available at press time. The team is scheduled to host Pullman on Saturday, May 2, for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
