Deer Park High School graduate Hunter Dryden, class of 2020, is moving up on the minor league baseball ladder. Last week, his former high school coach, Darren Snyder, said he was informed by Dryden’s father, Dean Dryden, that the next stop for the former Stag will be with the San Francisco Giants High "A" Northwest League affiliate in Eugene, Ore. The Emeralds are in the same league as the Spokane Indians which will provide a homecoming of sorts when Eugene visits Spokane Aug. 4-9.

Dryden was a standout at Deer Park High School, playing on two state tournament qualifying teams under head coach Chad Hand in 2019 and 2020.

Dryden also turned in what is believed to be the only perfect game in Stag baseball history when he struck out 16 against Riverside in 2019. A perfect game not only means a pitcher allowed no hits, but also no walks or hit batters, and zero defensive errors.

He went on to a standout four-year career at Whitworth University playing infield as well as pitching. His junior and senior college campaigns saw him earn all Northwest Conference honors.

Dryden was selected in the 17th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants in 2024. He spent that year with their Arizona Summer League team and was called up to their short season "A" affiliate in San Jose for the postseason.

Dryden spent all of 2025 in San Jose, with the Giants claiming the California League championship. He finished with a 5-3 record and 2.90 ERA, and struck out 103 batters in 93 innings pitched.
