Colville’s baseball team opened the 2026 season with plenty of offensive firepower, picking up a 10-run victory over Kettle Falls on Thursday, March 12, and splitting a pair of games over the weekend in Ephrata to sit at 2-1.

The hosting Hawks piled up 11 hits and scored in four different innings on Thursday as the 1A Colville took down 2B Kettle Falls 14-4.

The Hawks jumped on their opponent early, plating five runs in the first inning to seize momentum. Colville added three more runs in the second and scored six runs in the final two innings.

It was the usual suspects for the Crimson Hawks, as expected, standout Kyle Bradfield led the charge, going 4-for-4 with five RBIs, a triple, and a double. Leadoff hitter Jet Bateman also had a big day, finishing 3-for-3 with four runs scored, while Fisher Hilderbrandt contributed two hits and an RBI.

Braxton Brown and Luke Bateman each drove in two runs for the Hawks.

On the mound, Conor Lyng earned the win, allowing just one hit and no runs over two innings while striking out four. Gunnar Baker followed with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts.

Kettle Falls’ Cody Adams went 1-for-3 on the day and drove in two runs. The Bulldogs had four hits on the day.

Colville continued its momentum later Saturday morning, driving to Ephrata and picking up a 9-3 win over nonleague foe Quincy.

The Hawks gradually built their lead, scoring runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to pull away.

Jet Bateman paced the offense with three hits and three RBIs, while Zack Bateman added two hits and three runs scored.

Bradfield delivered a strong performance on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing just two hits and three runs while striking out 14 batters.

Colville’s day ended with a tight 11-8 loss to Goldendale in the afternoon. The Timberwolves used a six-run second inning to take control of the matchup.

The Hawks showed life with a five-run rally in the fourth inning, but could not take the lead in the shortened game.

Bradfield continued his strong day at the plate, finishing with two hits, three RBIs, and a home run. Jet Bateman, Colton Hansen, and Hilderbrandt each added RBIs.

Despite the final-game setback, Colville showed its offensive potential throughout the weekend, combining for 31 runs across three games.

The Hawks are scheduled to host Cheney on Wednesday, March 18, at 3 p.m., then face Freeman on Saturday, March 21, at 10 a.m., followed by Chewelah at 3 p.m.
