Inchelium Girls Basketball Falls to Oakesdale In District 6 1B Fifth-Place Game

The Inchelium girls basketball team saw their postseason run come to an end Saturday, Feb. 21, falling to Oakesdale 58-31 in the District 6 1B fifth-place game at Reardan High School.

Oakesdale (20-3) used a strong second quarter to seize control and secure a berth to the state tournament, while Inchelium closed its season with a 14-9 overall record (7-5 in league).

Marianna Agapith led the Hornets with 18 points, accounting for more than half of Inchelium’s offense. She knocked down two 3-pointers as part of four total triples for the Hornets.

Inchelium trailed just 9-5 after the opening quarter, but Oakesdale broke the game open in the second. The Nighthawks outscored the Hornets 20-6 in the period to build a 29-11 halftime advantage.

Autumn Roper paced Oakesdale with 16 points, while Grace Perry added 15 points. The Nighthawks connected on eight 3-pointers in the game.

The Hornets showed resilience after halftime, putting together an 11-point third quarter behind Agapith and Ronni Seymour, who finished with 11 points and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Seymour and Agapith each hit a pair of 3-pointers.
