The Deer Park Lady Stags secured their second straight Greater Spokane League 2A regular season championship after a dominant week, capped by a doubleheader sweep of Pullman featuring two grand slams in a single game.

The Deer Park Lady Stags softball team claimed their second consecutive Greater Spokane League 2A regular season title with three wins last week.

The week began with a home victory against West Valley on April 28. After trailing 3-2 early, the Lady Stags surged ahead with a four-run second inning and ended the game in five innings. Katelyn Reiter and Ally Ellingson led the offense, with Kapri Bailey adding a home run.

On May 2, Deer Park hosted Pullman for the regular season finale. In the opening game of the doubleheader, Hailey Thompson struck out nine to lead the team to a 12-2 championship-clinching victory. Lucy Lathrop drove in four runs with a double and a home run.

The second game of the doubleheader made history as both Kapri Bailey and Hailey Thompson hit grand slams—a feat Head Coach Dana Shaw said he had not seen before in his coaching career. Bailey finished the day with an incredible five hits and nine RBI.

The Lady Stags will host a district semifinal game on May 13 at 4 p.m.
