Lakeside Falls to Colville in NEA District Title Game

Lakeside lost 6-4 to Colville in the Northeast A League District Championship on May 16, despite a strong effort.

Lakeside came up short in the Northeast A League District Championship game Saturday, May 16, falling 6-4 to Colville in eight innings. The Eagles, who had previously taken two of three games from Colville this season, battled back after falling behind early but could not hold off a late Colville push. Lakeside trailed 2-0 before scoring a run in the second inning and another in the fifth to tie the game. The Eagles added three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Colville answered with two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to claim the district title. Austin Simonson, Colby Compau, and Kyle Phillips each had hits for Lakeside. Phillips drove in a run, while Connor Fritz and Cy Reeves also had RBIs. Compau scored twice, while Max Clancy and Simonson each scored once. Reeves started on the mound and worked seven innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits while striking out 12 and walking one. Drake Wood pitched the eighth inning, allowing two runs on three hits. Despite the loss, Lakeside remains in the postseason. The Eagles are 16-6 and earned the No. 6 seed in the state baseball tournament. Lakeside will host No. 11 King's Knights (Seattle) in the opening round, on Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at Lakeside High School
