The Deer Park soccer team stepped out of Greater Spokane League play on March 30 with a trip into Pend Oreille County to meet up with Newport, who was once their Northeast "A" League rival.
The Stags overwhelmed the home-standing Grizzlies by scoring the first five goals of the match. Senior Parker Russell would tally four goals and add an assist. Junior Wyatt added a goal on a bicycle kick. The Stags came away with the road win 7-3.
The Stags faced Pullman on April 2, and fell 8-0; no game details were available at press time. Their next match is scheduled for April 14 at home against Clarkston at 4 p.m.
Eighty minutes wasn't enough time to determine a winner when Riverside welcomed Newport to their home pitch in Chattaroy on April 2. Mads Willhelm got the Rams on the board in the 31st minute for a 1-0 advantage. The visiting Grizzlies would score the game’s final two goals, scoring the winner five minutes into overtime.
The Rams are off until their trip to Colbert to face Northwest Christian at 4 p.m. on April 14.
