Motorcyclist’s Life Claimed in Fatal Crash

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist that happened on July 21 at the intersection of North Milan Elk Road and East Eloika Road. People in the area called 911 to report that a motorcycle rider had run off the road and crashed, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

Officials reported that bystanders started CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on the motorcyclist while waiting for Spokane County Fire District 4 paramedics. Life Flight was also called, but the rider died at the scene. Witnesses told deputies that the rider had been driving recklessly, passing other vehicles and was going an estimated 90 miles per hour, the press release said.

The motorcycle had been heading north on Milan Elk Road when the rider failed to make a right-hand curve at Eloika Road. He crossed the centerline and the southbound lane before running off the road and crashing into a traffic sign, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Speed and possible impairment are suspected factors in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.

No additional details have been released about the investigation. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the name of the motorcycle rider.
