The Mead School District has selected Haley Maxfield as the next principal of Colbert Elementary School. According to school officials, Maxfield will begin her new role July 1 after spending the past four years as assistant principal at Deer Park Elementary School. She brings 14 years of experience in education to the position, including classroom teaching, student support systems, and school administration. “I am honored and excited to join Colbert Elementary as principal,” Maxfield said. “I am incredibly thankful for the time I have spent in the Deer Park School District and for the relationships and experiences that have helped shape me as an educator and leader.” Before becoming assistant principal in Deer Park, Maxfield served one year as Deer Park School District’s MultiTiered Systems of Support coordinator. She said she also spent nine years as an elementary classroom teacher. According to Maxfield, her teaching career began with three years in Deer Park. She later taught kindergarten, first grade, and third grade during four years with Bozeman School District in Montana before returning to Deer Park, where she taught third grade for two years at Arcadia Elementary. Maxfield was chosen following a district hiring process that included what Mead officials described as a strong group of candidates. “The Mead School District is excited to add Haley to our administrative team and know she will do a fantastic job leading Colbert Elementary,” Assistant Superintendent Jay Jordan said. “We would like to thank the strong pool of candidates for their time and are grateful for the work put in by the interview committee.” Maxfield said she is looking forward to meeting Colbert’s staff, students, and families. “I have heard wonderful things about the school community and am proud to become a Colbert Cougar,” she said.
