A doubleheader that started on April 14 and ended on Friday, April 17, due to Mother Nature, along with a 180-mile road trip to face a pair of top tier opponents kept the Riverside softball team busy last week.

They began the doubleheader against Lakeside in Nine Mile Falls on April 14, but play was suspended with the Rams leading 7-3. Three days later, the first game concluded with Riverside on top 9-6. Izzy Cotner had two hits for Riverside. The second game on Friday saw the visitors get an early jump and come out victorious 13-3. Zoe Winterroth had two hits and two stolen bases.

The Rams were on the road early on April 18 for two games in the class 1A showcase event hosted by College Place High School at the Mill Creek Sportsplex in Walla Walla.

Lindsay Hudson-Wayne scored three times with two hits, both doubles as the Rams prevailed over Meridian (Bellingham) 10-3. Cotner scored twice on two hits with a pair of stolen bases. Reece Morris drove in two with a pair of hits, while Chloe Nelson had two hits, and Makenna Distad added two stolen bases.

Nelson swung the biggest and hottest stick in game two against Tenino with four hits, including a double and three runs scored. Cotner and Distad each had three hits; Cotner had a two-bagger. Anna Pace scored twice on two hits. Hudson-Wayne scored twice and Winterroth drove in a pair. The Rams prevailed 9-5.

Riverside is scheduled to conclude their season series with Lakeside on the road on Wednesday, April 22, at 4 p.m. and entertains Medical Lake for a pair on Saturday at noon.
