A late push wasn’t quite enough for the Crimson Hawks on Feb. 10.
Ben Riggles buried five 3-pointers and scored 21 points as Riverside edged Colville 63-62 in a Northeast A boys basketball matchup.
Colville (9-11 overall, 1-5 Northeast A) trailed 29-23 at halftime after Riverside (5-14, 1-5) built a narrow advantage in the opening two quarters. The Rams opened with a 17-10 first quarter and extended their lead slightly in the second.
Colville came out of the break with renewed energy, outscoring Riverside 18-14 in the third quarter behind strong outside shooting and aggressive drives to the basket. Parker Darnold sparked the rally, finishing with a game-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the free-throw line.
The Hawks carried momentum into the fourth quarter, scoring 21 points in the final frame. Brock Benson added 15 points, connecting on five field goals and knocking down four free throws, while also stretching the defense with a 3-pointer. Colville matched Riverside from beyond the arc with seven 3-pointers of its own.
Colville finished 11-of-19 from the free-throw line and was whistled for 21 total fouls compared to Riverside’s 16.
The narrow loss drops the Crimson Hawks to 1-5 in league play. They moved into the league playoffs and faced Riverside again on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Results for the game were unavailable at press time.
