Riverside baseball got its season underway with a trip to East Valley of the Class 2A Greater Spokane League on March 20, looking to take down the Knights for the second consecutive season.
Riverside would strike first with a single tally at the top of the first inning. The home-standing Knights bats it up as they scored the next 11 runs, including a nine-run fourth inning.
The Rams would counter with five runs in the top of the fifth, only to have the home side answer with five of their own in the bottom half to end the game after five innings. The Knights led by 10 runs at 16-6.
Austin Jenkinson had a double and drove in one run. Sawyer McGowan and Colton Wilson had the other Riverside hits, and Gregory Wilson drove in a run.
Riverside played at Timberlake (Spirit Lake) on Tuesday; results were unavailable at press time. The team then welcomes Bonners Ferry on Thursday, March 26, at 3:30 p.m.
