Riverside Softball Splits Doubleheader Against Cardinal Foes

When the season began, Riverside head softball coach Roy Rose felt that his squad and Medical Lake could be battling for the top spot in the Northeast "A" League. Their two matchups on April 25 at Riverside may have proven that to be true.
After the visiting Cardinals prevailed 8-5 in the opener, the Rams were anxious to even the score. In spite of the first game setback, Izzy Cotner scored three runs on three hits, including a home run.
Medical Lake looked to be on their way to sweep the day with a seven-run top of the first to open game two. Riverside would battle back with six runs in their final two turns at bat to win 11-9. Cotner added a three-run game with two hits, including a triple. Lindsey Hudson-Wayne scored two, drove in a pair, and stole two bases. Macie Hoffman had two runs scored and two hits. Chloe Nelson and Reece Morris each had two hits and Paisley Jenkinson drove in two.
The Rams and Cardinals conclude their season series on Wednesday, April 29, in Medical Lake at 4 p.m. The Rams are scheduled to travel to Colville for a doubleheader on Friday, May 1, beginning at 2 p.m.
