Second Harvest Mobile Food Market Serves Families in Deer Park

The Second Harvest Mobile Food Market returned to Faith Lutheran Church in Deer Park on June 18, providing food assistance to hundreds of local families. According to Kathy Hedgcock, senior leader at Second Harvest, the mobile market served 248 families during the event. Community volunteers played a vital role in making the distribution possible, with 17 of the event's 21 volunteers coming from Faith Lutheran Church, Hedgcock said. Families received a variety of food items, including fresh potatoes, pears, apples, and oranges, along with milk, eggs, mashed potatoes, cereal and, chili. Hedgcock said the Mobile Food Market is part of Second Harvest's ongoing efforts to increase access to nutritious food in the region. Through partnerships with local organizations and volunteers, the program aims to ensure families have access to essential groceries while strengthening community connections.
