A strong first quarter wasn’t enough to keep Kettle Falls’ boys basketball season alive on Feb. 18.

Mace Thivierge scored a game-high 23 points, but the Bulldogs were eliminated by Reardan, 74-50, in a District 6 2B loser-out game at West Valley High School.

Kettle Falls (11-13, 5-7 Northeast 2B North) opened with energy, building an 18-11 lead after the first quarter. Reardan (19-4, 10-2) responded in the second quarter, outscoring Kettle Falls 20-9 to take a 31-27 halftime lead. The Screaming Eagles carried that momentum into the third quarter, adding 19 more points while holding the Bulldogs to six to stretch the advantage to 50-33 heading into the final period.

Justin Vaughn and Fred Frolov each scored 23 points to lead the Screaming Eagles.

For Kettle Falls, Thivierge paced the offense with 23 points. Cody Adams added 10 points and Jaxon Fandrey scored six points.

Kettle Falls finished the season with 11 wins, over double of last year's five-win campaign.
