Loren Gilson

Loren Gilson, 83, passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2026. Born Dec. 4, 1942, he grew up in the small communities of north Idaho and eastern Washington, and dedicated his life to education as a teacher and principal. He was also a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he lived his commitment to service. Loren is survived by his wife, Tessie Gilson; his children Jeff (Kari) Gilson and Jennifer (Jeff) Herndon; and grandchildren Hannah, Caiden, Eli, Zach Herndon, and Sam and Emily Scott. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Karen Gilson. A funeral service will be held Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church, 34221 N Newport Hwy, Chattaroy, WA.
