On August 19, 2026, the world lost a great American. Ronald Herschel Roberts was born February 8, 1934, in Okanogan, WA, to Herschel and Katherine Roberts. Ron loved the nearby family homestead, working and enjoying the outdoors. After completing school, Ron went into the Army's 82nd Airborne. He won awards shooting on the All-Army Rifle team. He then attended Wenatchee Valley College, played football and basketball, and met the love of his life, Vicki, whom he was married to for 68 years. After college, he was a North Cascades Smokejumper, which he was so proud of.

Ron and Vicki moved to Spokane in 1960, where he worked until retiring in the 1990’s. They had three children: Shawn, Steve, and Rhona. In 1967, they bought a ranch near Clayton, WA, and called it The Lazy R. It was a Norman Rockwell life, and in 2016 they moved to the Deer Park Golf Course. Ron loved golf and also playing his trumpet. At the golf course, he played taps at sundown every night. A celebration of life will be held at the Deer Park Golf Course clubhouse on October 3 from 3-6 p.p. All are welcome
